One of Columbia, South Carolina's greatest assets is the Saluda River. It offers natural serenity plus a great deal of fun, recreational opportunities. The river was named for the Algonquian-speaking Indian tribe that occupied the lower reaches of the Saluda in the 1670s. The name itself is an Indian word, probably meaning “river of corn.” So what are the benefits of the Saluda River?
